Preparation of Pd/γ-Al2O3/nickel foam monolithic catalyst and its performance for selective hydrogenation in a rotating packed bed reactor

Hai-Long Liao et al.

Summary: Selective hydrogenation was achieved with enhanced selectivity in a rotating packed bed (RPB) reactor, by preparing a catalyst suitable for the rotor of the reactor and improving mass transfer efficiency. The hydrogenation selectivity in the RPB reactor was significantly higher than in a stirred tank reactor under similar conditions, proving the feasibility of intensifying selectivity in the hydrogenation process.

Effect of Pore Structures on 1,4-Butynediol Hydrogenation over Mesoporous Ni/Al2O3-SiO2 Catalysts

Changzhen Wang et al.

Summary: The mesoporous structures of Ni/Al2O3-SiO2 catalysts have significant effects on the hydrogenation performance of 1,4-butynediol to 1,4-butanediol. The cross pore structure enhances dispersion of active sites and exposure of acid sites, leading to improved hydrogenation ability. Conversely, the narrow and long parallel pore structure limits accessibility of active sites, while catalysts without mesoporous structures suffer from poor interaction between nickel particles and the support surface.

XPS characterization of cobalt impregnated SiO2 and γ-Al2O3

Jhonn Canon et al.

Summary: The study investigates the impregnation of SiO2 and gamma-Al2O3 with varying amounts of cobalt, with XPS analysis revealing significant changes in the surface properties of the support materials. The results indicate that the choice of support material plays a crucial role in tuning the chemical characteristics of cobalt in cobalt-based catalysts.

Facile Redox Synthesis of Novel Bimetallic Crn+/Pd0 Nanoparticles Supported on SiO2 and TiO2 for Catalytic Selective Hydrogenation with Molecular Hydrogen

Olga A. Kirichenko et al.

Summary: In this study, bimetallic Crn+/Pd-0 nanoparticles were synthesized for the first time using a two-step redox method. The nanoparticles were characterized for morphology, size, element distribution, and electronic state of deposited metals in the obtained catalysts. The novel Crn+/Pd/TiO2 catalysts showed higher activity in selective hydrogenation of phenylacetylene compared to Pd/TiO2 catalyst at ambient conditions.

An efficient method for enhancing adhesion and uniformity of Al2O3 coatings on nickel micro-foam used in micropacked beds

Chi Ma et al.

Summary: This study compared and screened methods of coating Al2O3 on nickel micro-foam to prepare monolithic catalyst coatings. Optimal slurry circulation at 162 ml.min(-1) was found, and changing pretreatment conditions can control the pore size on the substrate surface. An empirical correlation for predicting pore size was proposed, and the adhesion of coatings with substrate pretreatment was significantly better than without.
