Vibration characteristics of rotor-bearing system with angular misalignment and cage fracture: Simulation and experiment

Pengfei Wang et al.

Summary: This paper studies the vibration characteristics of cage fracture faults in rolling bearings from both simulation and experimental aspects. It finds that when cage fracture occurs, the system amplitude increases and obvious impact vibration characteristics appear, and the vibration energy gradually concentrates to low-frequency vibration. These results provide important reference for the identification and diagnosis of rolling bearing misalignment and cage fracture.

Investigation on the characterisation of axle box resonance characteristics to wheel excitation

Cai Yi et al.

Summary: An increasing number of studies have shown the effectiveness and superiority of reverse engineering in using axle box vibration acceleration signals to deduce the operation state of wheelsets. However, there is a lack of discussion and summary on the overall mapping relationship between wheel excitation and axle box response, and no detailed investigation on resonance characteristics of axle box. This study proposes a novel resonant excitation loading method and discusses the guiding role of axle box resonance characteristics on wheel operation status detection through two case studies.

Effects of three types of bearing misalignments on dynamic characteristics of planetary gear set-rotor system

Pengfei Wang et al.

Summary: This paper analyzes the effects of axial, radial, and tilt misalignments on the dynamic characteristics of the planetary gear set-rotor system. It proposes a nonlinear restoring force model for ball bearings under different misalignment conditions. The dynamic model of the planetary gear set is established using the lumped parameter method, and the rotor is modeled using the Timoshenko beam element. The results show that misalignments reduce vibration amplitude but increase load-bearing area and contact load. Different types of misalignments also affect the varying compliance frequency amplitude of the bearing. The research provides a theoretical basis for fault diagnosis and identification of bearing misalignment in complex rotating machinery systems.

Sameera Mufazzal et al.

Summary: This study presents an in-depth analysis of the vibration response of ball bearings using a modified 2DOF lumped parameter model, showing the significant impact of varying compliance vibration on the location and number of impulses. The simulation results reveal that defect-induced vibration peaks may be influenced by the varying compliance vibration, leading to erroneous fault identification.

Vivek Parmar et al.

Summary: This paper aims to investigate the physics governing the vibration response of spherical rolling-element bearing with a localized defect and subjected to dynamic-misalignment. The study found that an increase in radial and axial loads have contrasting effects on the acceleration response and contact load shared by the two bearing rows. Furthermore, the behavior observed from the numerically simulated results was validated from the vibration data obtained experimentally from the test-rig.
