Quasi-Static Modeling and Optimization of Two-Layer PCB Resonators in Wireless Power Transfer Systems for 110-kV Power Grid Online Monitoring Equipment

Yaoran Fang et al.

Summary: This article presents a study on the power supplies for online monitoring systems in the transmission and distribution networks of the emerging smart grid. It proposes a method of harvesting and delivering magnetic energy around the transmission line wirelessly using PCB resonators embedded inside an insulation rod. The article derives a new model of the PCB resonators and constructs an automated simulation-driven optimization framework to enhance the quality factor of the resonator. Practical measurements show significant improvements in the wireless power transfer efficiency.

Analysis and Design of Cubic Magnetic Coupler for High Distance-to-Diameter Ratio IPT Systems

Yijie Wang et al.

Summary: This article presents a cubic-magnetic coupler (CMC) for inductive power transfer (IPT) system, which shows great potential in the charging field of moving targets. The CMC is capable of long-distance wireless power transfer and has good misalignment tolerance. The article optimizes the parameters and shape of the CMC and compares it with existing couplers used in long-distance IPT systems. Experimental results confirm the superiorities of the proposed CMC in terms of coupling efficiency.

Design and Analysis of Multiload Inductive Power Transfer System Using Bilateral-Excitation Scheme

Weiming Chen et al.

Summary: This article introduces the use of cascade repeaters in a multiload inductive power transfer (ML-IPT) system. The cascade repeaters serve as both power transmitters and load carriers, and high-order compensations are designed to achieve constant load currents. A bilateral-excitation (BE) scheme is proposed to improve output currents and system reliability.

High-Efficiency Bilateral S-SP Compensated Multiload IPT System With Constant-Voltage Outputs

Yao Wang et al.

Summary: In this article, a bilaterally transmitted domino-type multiload inductive power transfer (IPT) system is proposed to achieve constant-voltage (CV) outputs with low voltage attenuation and high efficiency. The proposed system utilizes a series-series/parallel (S-SP) topology and a bilateral IPT structure to overcome practical challenges and improve system performance. Experimental results show that the proposed bilateral IPT system outperforms the unilateral counterpart in terms of CV output and efficiency.

A Monitoring Equipment Charging System for HVTL Based on Domino-Resonator WPT With Constant Current or Constant Voltage Output

Zhaotian Yan et al.

Summary: A domino-resonator wireless power transfer system is designed in this work to extract energy from the magnetic field surrounding a 110-kV high voltage transmission line and provide continuous power to an online monitoring device over a 1.1-meter insulation distance. The system utilizes domino resonators and adjusting the receiver's switch state to achieve constant voltage and constant current modes, while negligible impact on the electric and magnetic field intensity distribution near the insulator. The experimental results demonstrate high efficiency and stable output voltage and current.

A Three-Stage-Five-Coil IPT System Based on Cylindrical Solenoid Coupler Applied to State Detection Equipment of HV Device

Peng Gu et al.

Summary: This article proposes a three-stage-five-coil inductive power transfer (IPT) system based on a cylindrical solenoid coupler (CSC). The shape and parameters of the CSC are optimized, and an equivalent CLC/S/CLC compensation topology is used to achieve constant voltage characteristics. By changing the position of the compensation auxiliary coil (CAC), the mutual inductance between CAC and the power transfer coil can be adjusted, enhancing the design flexibility. Mathematical and loss models are established, and the power transfer characteristics of the system are analyzed. A prototype is built to verify the performance, achieving a maximum efficiency of about 60% for the dc-dc system.

Impedance Analysis and Design of IPT System to Improve System Efficiency and Reduce Output Voltage or Current Fluctuations

Jianwei Mai et al.

Summary: This article presents an impedance analysis method for C-filter rectifiers in continuous conduction mode and proposes an improved method to reduce the negative effects on the characteristics of the inductive power transfer (IPT) system. By connecting a very tiny capacitance in parallel at the input end to reduce the impedance angle, efficiency is improved and output fluctuation is reduced.
