Torque Performance Improvement for Slotted Limited-Angle Torque Motors by Combined SMA Application and GA Optimization

Summary: This article focuses on reducing torque ripple in the slotted limited angle torque motor (LATM) by using 1J22 soft magnetic alloy (SMA) and proposes a multiobjective optimization method based on genetic algorithm (GA) to improve torque performances. By applying sensitivity analysis and GA, the optimization process for related parameters of stator tooth was carried out to optimize torque performances. Finally, finite-element analysis (FEA) was used to validate the optimization design.

Summary: Magnetorheological elastomers (MREs) are composite materials consisting of magnetically permeable particles in a nonmagnetic polymeric matrix, showing reversible deformation under external magnetic fields. They have a coupled magnetomechanical response suitable for various applications, and understanding this technology further is necessary for efficient energy conversion systems. The Jiles-Atherton (JA) theory, based on the magneto-coupling experienced by effective domains in a magnetic material, provides model parameters related to physical attributes of the materials, highlighting differences in domain structure between Fe powder and isotropic MRE.
