Embedding Model-Based Fast Meta Learning for Downlink Beamforming Adaptation

Juping Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the fast adaptive beamforming for the multiuser multiple-input single-output downlink. A simple yet effective adaptive framework is proposed to tackle the task mismatch issue by training an embedding model as a transferable feature extractor and fitting the support vector regression. The proposed method does not necessarily require labelled data in pre-training and fine-tuning, and shows advantages in terms of performance and complexity through simulation results.

Experimental Assessment of New Generation Radio Networks Based on Layered Division Multiplexing

Rodney Martinez Alonso et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the trend of converging broadcasting services into broadband networks and explores the use of LDM technology in mobile cellular infrastructure. Experimental results show that the inter-cell interference margin for LTE eMBMS is about 3 dB higher compared to traditional LTE networks, leading to a reduction of approximately 19% in coverage when a layered architecture is incorporated.

Generalization Bounds and Algorithms for Learning to Communicate Over Additive Noise Channels

Nir Weinberger

Summary: This article addresses the encoding problem in an additive noise channel with nonparametric and unknown noise distribution. It provides generalization bounds and algorithms for error probability loss function and hinge-type surrogate loss function. Additionally, it solves the problem of maximizing the mutual information between input and output in coded systems, obtaining uniform convergence bounds for different input distributions.

Distributed Interference Management: A Broadcast Approach

Maha Zohdy et al.

Summary: The article focuses on the two-user interference channel and proposes a broadcast approach to interference management, where transmitters adapt their message into multiple encoded layers to accommodate different possible channel states without the need for instantaneous channel state information. Each receiver can opportunistically decode a subset of both transmitters' received layers based on the relative gain between direct and interfering channels, leading to the delineation of an average achievable rate region and the establishment of an upper bound on the gap between achievable sum-rate and sum-rate capacity.

Transfer Learning and Meta Learning-Based Fast Downlink Beamforming Adaptation

Yi Yuan et al.

Summary: This article studies fast adaptive beamforming optimization for the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio balancing problem in a multiuser multiple-input single-output downlink system. Two offline adaptive algorithms based on deep transfer learning and meta-learning are proposed, as well as an online algorithm to enhance adaptation capability in non-stationary environments. Simulation results show that the proposed adaptive algorithms outperform direct deep learning, with meta-learning algorithm achieving near optimal performance and online meta-learning algorithm showing superior adaptation in changing environments.
