Compact Balanced Bandpass Filter Based on Equilateral Triangular Patch Resonator

Zhuowei Zhang et al.

Summary: This brief presents a new balanced bandpass filter based on equilateral triangular patch resonator (ETPR). By introducing a rectangular slot in the middle of the ETPR, the TM10 mode can be controlled for design miniaturization and separated from the disturbed mode near the passband for better performance. The developed coupling topology is used to arrange six adjacent slotted ETPRs to construct a fourth-order balanced BPF with a good differential-mode passband, sharp frequency selectivity, and high common-mode suppression.

Glide Symmetry Applied to Printed Common-Mode Rejection Filters

Boules A. Mouris et al.

Summary: This article introduces a novel application of glide symmetry to achieve CM rejection filter properties in differential lines. Experimental results show that utilizing glide symmetry in two different topologies can significantly increase CM rejection bandwidth while maintaining the integrity of the transmitted information in the presence of differential-mode propagation.

Non-Reciprocal Balanced Bandpass Filters With Quasi-Elliptic Response

Dakotah Simpson et al.

Summary: This paper reports on the RF design and practical development of a non-reciprocal balanced bandpass filter. The filter exhibits a highly-selective response and non-reciprocal behavior, with the common-mode suppressed by a balanced network. The filter order can be increased by cascading resonators.

A Novel Ultrawideband Absorptive Common-Mode Filter Design Using a Miniaturized and Resistive Defected Ground Structure

Shi-Kang Tseng et al.

Summary: This article proposes an ultrawideband absorptive common-mode filter (A-CMF) with a newly developed defected ground structure (DGS) that can suppress common-mode noise while maintaining signal integrity. A simplified equivalent circuit model is used for quick design, achieving a wide absorption bandwidth never seen before. The design methodology is validated through full-wave simulation and real measurement.

Design of a Differential Coupled-Line Directional Coupler Using a Double-Side Coplanar Waveguide Structure With Common-Signal Suppression

Jesus Martel et al.

Summary: A rigorous approach for the design of a differential coupled-line directional coupler implemented in double-side coplanar-waveguide technology is presented in this work. The structure's double symmetry and broadside coupling of differential CPWlines allow for simple and efficient coupling level and port characteristic impedance calculations, resulting in a 3dB coupler with an impedance of 50 Omega. The addition of a simple and compact common-mode filter at the input port successfully reduces common-mode transmission to both through and coupled output ports.
