The Systematic Design of Noncommensurate Impedance Matching Tapers for Ultrawideband Gradient-Index Lens Antennas

Summary: This article proposes a general method for designing wideband matching tapers in inhomogeneous media to match wideband GRIN lens antennas. A new design algorithm is presented to equalize the electrical length of commensurate and noncommensurate line tapers, allowing for predictable frequency response. The study also discusses and provides recommendations to mitigate nonidealities in discretized tapers.
