This article presents and explains the clinically available and state-of-the-art radiometric techniques for biomedical applications. Microwave radiometry (MWR) is a passive technique that offers noninvasive, low-cost, and portable solutions for in-depth temperature monitoring, functional imaging, and inflammation detection, making it especially useful in the field of medicine.
Microwave radiometry (MWR) is a passive technique for sensing a body's internal temperature that was initially proposed in the 1980s. Since then, various MWR applications have been proposed, especially in medicine, as it offers noninvasive, low-cost, and portable solutions for in-depth temperature monitoring, functional imaging, and inflammation detection. Clinically available and state-of-the-art radiometric techniques for biomedical applications are presented and explained in this article.
