Rectal NSAIDs-based combination modalities are superior to single modalities for prevention of post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatog-raphy pancreatitis: a network meta-analysis

Tae Young Park et al.

Summary: This study used network meta-analysis to compare the efficacy of different prophylactic modalities for preventing post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography pancreatitis (PEP). The results showed that rectal NSAIDs-based combination regimens with aggressive hydration or nitrate are more effective in preventing PEP than single modalities.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness of different interventions in preventing postendoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography pancreatitis (PEP) through network meta-analysis. The results showed that aggressive hydration with sublingual nitrate and indomethacin was the best intervention for preventing PEP.

Prevention of post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography pancreatitis with a combination of pharmacological agents based on rectal non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs: A systematic review and network meta-analysis

Summary: Rectally administered NSAIDs in combination with other pharmacological agents are effective in preventing post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography pancreatitis (PEP). Among the different regimens, indomethacin + lactated Ringer's solution is considered the most effective combination, with rectal indomethacin and rectal diclofenac showing good efficacy in different circumstances.

Summary: In this study, prophylactic pancreatic stent placement was found to be more effective in preventing moderate-to-severe PEP in both average- and high-risk patients compared to rectal NSAID.

Aggressive fluid hydration plus non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs versus non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs alone for post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography pancreatitis (FLUYT): a multicentre, open-label, randomised, controlled trial

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the added value of aggressive periprocedural hydration in patients receiving prophylactic rectal NSAIDs. The results showed that aggressive hydration did not reduce the incidence of post-ERCP pancreatitis in patients with moderate to high risk of developing this complication who routinely received prophylactic rectal NSAIDs.

Combined use of indomethacin and hydration is the best conservative approach for post-ERCP pancreatitis prevention: A network meta- analysis

Katalin Marta et al.

Summary: The study found that a combination therapy of lactated Ringer's and indomethacin is more effective for PEP prevention compared to single therapy, with a 70-99% higher preventive efficacy estimate for the combination therapy. Aggressive hydration with indomethacin also showed significantly higher effectiveness compared to other interventions, with a SUCRA of 100% and a relative effect of 94.3-98.1%.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, intravenous fluids, pancreatic stents, or their combinations for the prevention of post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography pancreatitis: a systematic review and network meta-analysis

Venkata S. Akshintala et al.

Summary: This study systematically compared the efficacy of NSAIDs, pancreatic stents, intravenous fluids, or a combination of these methods for preventing post-ERCP pancreatitis through network meta-analysis. Rectal diclofenac 100 mg was found to be the best performing rectal NSAID. Combinations of prophylaxis may be more effective, yet there is limited evidence.
