Choroidal vascular alterations evaluated by ultra-widefield indocyanine green angiography in central serous chorioretinopathy

Seongyong Jeong et al.

Summary: This study investigated choroidal vascular alterations in patients with central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) using ultra-widefield indocyanine green angiography. The results suggest that CSC patients have larger choroidal vascular hyperpermeability areas, thicker choroids, and more engorged vortex veins compared to controls.

Venous overload choroidopathy: A hypothetical framework for central serous chorioretinopathy and allied disorders

Richard F. Spaide et al.

Summary: Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) is characterized by fluid leakage at the level of the retinal pigment epithelium, leading to macular detachment. Recent evaluations have shown that eyes with CSC have similar choroidal vascular abnormalities as eyes following occlusion of the vortex veins or carotid cavernous sinus fistulas. Abnormal venous outflow from the choroid appears to be a key factor in the pathophysiology of CSC.

INNER AND OUTER CHOROIDAL CHANGES IN THE FELLOW EYE OF PATIENTS WITH UNILATERAL CENTRAL SEROUS CHORIORETINOPATHY

Enrico Borrelli et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to quantitatively evaluate the inner and outer choroidal changes in the fellow eyes of patients with unilateral central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). The results showed that both the choriocapillaris and stromal areas were increased in the unaffected eyes of unilateral CSC patients, along with a higher choroidal vascularity index. Additionally, the percentage and number of choriocapillaris flow deficits were also increased in these patients.

Clinical Factors Related to Loculation of Fluid in Central Serous Chorioretinopathy

N. A. O. Y. A. Imanaga et al.

Summary: This retrospective, cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the clinical factors related to the presence of loculation of fluid (LOF) in central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). The study found that a thicker choroid and thicker sclera were associated with the presence of LOF in CSC. Age, sex, subfoveal choroidal thickness (SCT), and scleral thickness were also found to be related to LOF.

Morphological differences of choroid in central serous chorioretinopathy determined by ultra-widefield optical coherence tomography

Takahiko Izumi et al.

Summary: The choroid in eyes with CSC has a steeper slope around the posterior pole, and UWF-OCT can be used to evaluate abnormalities of choroidal structures in eyes with CSC from the posterior pole to the periphery.

REGIONAL SCLERAL THICKNESS AS A RISK FACTOR FOR CENTRAL SEROUS CHORIORETINOPATHY

Richard F. Spaide et al.

Summary: This study measured the thickness of the sclera in patients with CSC and controls using ultrasound and optical coherence tomography, and found that the equatorial and posterior scleral thicknesses were independent predictors of CSC. This finding supports the theory of venous overload choroidopathy.

PERIPHERAL CHOROIDAL THICKNESS DETERMINED BY WIDE-FIELD OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY IN EYES WITH CENTRAL SEROUS CHORIORETINOPATHY

Soichiro Nishihara et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the choroidal thickness in eyes with central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) and compare it with normal eyes using wide-field optical coherence tomographic images. The results showed that the choroidal thickness was significantly thicker in the CSC eyes compared to normal eyes, particularly at the subfoveal region and areas close to the fovea.

Ultra-Widefield Indocyanine Green Angiography Reveals Patterns of Choroidal Venous Insufficiency Influencing Pachychoroid Disease

Tommaso Bacci et al.

Summary: This study compares the patterns of choroidal venous drainage between eyes with pachychoroid disease and healthy eyes. The results show significant variability in the proportion of the postequatorial fundus drained by each vortex vein system in pachychoroid eyes, along with the presence of choroidal vascular hyperpermeability (CVH) and intervor-tex venous anastomoses. The study also highlights the correlation between asymmetric choroidal drainage and the presence of CVH and intervor-tex venous anastomoses in areas with maximal choroidal thickness.

Scleral Thickness in Central Serous Chorioretinopathy

Naoya Imanaga et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate scleral thickness in central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) using anterior segment (AS) OCT. The results showed that scleral thickness was significantly greater in CSC eyes than in normal control eyes, suggesting a possible role of thick sclera in the pathogenesis of CSC.
