Silurian intermediate-felsic complex in the Xiangtaohu area of central Qiangtang, northern Tibet: Evidence for southward subduction of the Longmuco-Shuanghu Prototethys oceanic plate

Han Liu et al.

Summary: The study of a newly discovered Silurian complex in the central Qiangtang Terrane of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau reveals the magmatic and tectonic evolution of the area. Through zircon U-Pb dating and Hf isotope analysis, it is found that the magmas originated from partial melting of different crustal and lithospheric sources, and were formed in a continental arc setting.

Tracking Prototethyan assembly felsic magmatic suites in southern Yunnan (SW China): evidence for an Early Ordovician-Early Silurian arc-back-arc system

Guichun Liu et al.

Summary: The Early Paleozoic trondhjemites, gneissic granites, and alkali granites in southern Yunnan provide important insights into the tectonic evolution of the Prototethyan Ocean and regional correlations. These granitoids were emplaced between 476 and 436 Ma, with distinct characteristics indicating derivation from different source rocks during subduction processes beneath the Simao Block. Their formation is consistent with an arc-back-arc system along the northern margin of Gondwana, as supported by similar igneous rocks in southern Laos, central Vietnam, and the Malay Peninsula.

Geochronology, geochemistry and zircon Hf-O isotopic composition of ore-bearing volcanic rocks at Dapingzhang VMS Cu-Zn deposit, SW China: Petrogenetic, metallogenic and tectonic implications

Xinyu Wang et al.

Summary: The Dapingzhang Cu-Zn deposit in the eastern Proto-Tethys Ocean formed in the mid-late Silurian period, with complex submarine volcanic rocks showing affinities to subduction-related arc settings. The mineralization includes various styles such as syngenetic massive sulfides and epigenetic veins, stockworks, and disseminations, classified as bimodal-felsic VMS deposit.

Proto-Tethys ophiolitic melange in SW Yunnan: Constraints from zircon U-Pb geochronology and geochemistry

Guichun Liu et al.

Summary: The recently identified Mayidui and Wanhe ophiolitic melanges in southwest Yunnan represent ancient oceanic crust and sediments, formed in Middle Ordovician. Geochemical analysis shows that these ophiolites were likely formed in an intra-oceanic setting with MORB-like and E-MORB-type mantle sources, providing robust constraints on the nature and timing of their formation.

Assembly of responsive metal-phenolic network capsules for drug delivery

Qian Wang et al.

Summary: Microcapsules are semipermeable or closed containers made by physical and chemical methods from natural or synthetic materials. Polyphenols have been widely used in various fields due to their antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Metal-phenolic networks (MPN) capsules have attracted attention for their biocompatibility, pH responsiveness, and multifunctionality. A novel strategy using ZIF-8 particles as template was reported for the assembly of MPN capsules, showing potential for therapeutic delivery.
