mRNA m5C inhibits adipogenesis and promotes myogenesis by respectively facilitating YBX2 and SMO mRNA export in ALYREF-m5C manner

Youhua Liu et al.

Summary: This study reveals the regulatory role of mRNA m(5)C modification in adipogenesis and myogenesis. Higher levels of mRNA m(5)C are associated with lower fat and higher muscle mass. m(5)C modification inhibits lipid accumulation and promotes myogenic differentiation. YBX2 and SMO are identified as m(5)C targets, which are involved in the regulation of adipogenesis and myogenesis through ALYREF-mediated subcellular localization.

Structures of outer-arm dynein array on microtubule doublet reveal a motor coordination mechanism

Qinhui Rao et al.

Summary: Outer-arm dyneins assemble in large arrays on the ciliary axoneme to drive rhythmic beating. Cryo-EM structures of microtubule-bound Tetrahymena thermophila OAD arrays reveal the complex assembly details and propose a model for coordinated action mechanism. Thousands of outer-arm dyneins are arranged in the axoneme to generate mechanical forces for ciliary beat, with coordination among multiple dyneins being essential.

The regulatory roles of motile cilia in CSF circulation and hydrocephalus

Vijay Kumar et al.

Summary: This review discusses the role of motile cilia in CSF circulation and hydrocephalus, including a review of cilia and ciliated cells in the brain and the regulatory role of functional cilia in CSF circulation. Additionally, it examines the potential involvement of defective cilia in hydrocephalus.
