Experimental investigation of performance, emissions and tribological characteristics of B20 blend from cottonseed and palm oil biodiesels

M. Jamshaid et al.

Summary: Depletion of fossil fuel reserves and environmental pollution have driven the research towards sustainable and clean energy sources production. Blended biodiesel fuels from cottonseed and palm oil showed lower emissions in engine testing and can be used as substitute fuels in diesel engines.

Performance and emission characteristics assessment of compression ignition engine fuelled with the blends of novel antioxidant catechol-daok biodiesel

Shaik Mullan Karishma et al.

Summary: The study shows that using B20 blend can achieve optimal performance on a direct-injection diesel engine, with better engine PEC at CR 17.5. Additionally, adding 2.5% CAT to the B20 blend improves performance and increases BTE, while 1.5% CAT reduces CO and HC emissions.

Avocado oil mixed with an antiwear additive as a potential lubricant - Measurement of antiwear and extreme pressure properties

Wani Khalid Shafi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the antiwear and extreme pressure properties of avocado oil mixed with ZDDP in concentrations of 1% to 3%. The results show significant improvement in wear properties at 1%, while an increase in load wear index and viscosity at 3%. The addition of ZDDP also maintains the Newtonian behavior of the oil.

Tribological Behaviour and Lubricating Mechanism of Tire Pyrolysis Oil

Haseeb Yaqoob et al.

Summary: In this study, the lubricity of tire pyrolysis oil was evaluated using a four-ball tester and compared with diesel fuel and their blends. The results showed that TPO exhibited better antiwear behavior compared to diesel fuel, with DT10 and DT20 also showing less wear than their diesel counterparts.

Tribological Behaviour of Graphene Nanoplatelets as Additive in Pongamia Oil

Yeoh Jun Jie Jason et al.

Summary: This study investigated the tribological behavior of Pongamia oil and mineral engine oil with and without the addition of graphene nanoplatelets. Results showed that the addition of 0.05 wt % GNPs significantly reduced friction and wear, with confirmation through SEM and EDS surface analysis. The deposition of GNPs on the friction surface and the formation of a protective film contributed to the reduction in friction and wear.

Magnesium oxide (MgO) as an additive to the neem oil for efficient lubrication

Yashvir Singh et al.

Summary: This study investigates the friction and wear characterization of neem oil with MgO nanoparticles, showing that a concentration of 0.6% produces improved results in reducing friction and making the worn surface smoother. The addition of nanoparticles as an additive was observed to improve surface wear.
