Akash Kumar et al.

Summary: Biomass and polymeric wastes can be coprocessed to reduce waste quantities and emissions while recovering valuable products. This study characterized the co-pyrolysis of hydrothermally treated Chlorella sorokiniana residue (CSR) and waste polymers (polystyrene (PS) and waste tires (WT)) to understand their pyrolytic behaviors and kinetics. The results show that including PS and WT in CSR pyrolysis reduces the processing requirements for converting liquid yields into useful fuel. The findings provide insights into the control and application potential of the co-pyrolysis process.

Investigation into the interaction of biomass waste with industrial solid waste during co-pyrolysis and the synergetic effect of its char gasification

Peng Lv et al.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction between waste cypress sawdust (WCS) and coal liquefaction residue (CLR) during co-pyrolysis. Both promoting and inhibiting effects were observed in the co-pyrolysis process. The gasification reactivity of co-pyrolysis char was better than that of individual WCS and CLR chars. The synergistic effect was most significant when the blending ratio of WCS to CLR was 3:1. In the gasification process, WCS contributed to the formation of a pore structure and promoted the diffusion and mass transfer of gasification agent. Additionally, alkali and alkaline earth metal species in WCS and iron bearing minerals in CLR catalyzed the gasification reaction, contributing to the synergistic effect.
