Effect of fuel concentration, inert gas dilutions, inert gas-water mist twin fluid medium dilutions, and end boundary condition on overpressure transients of premixed fuel vapor explosion

Shimao Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the factors and patterns influencing overpressure transients of hydrocarbon fuel-air mixtures explosions, revealing the impact of initial fuel volume concentration, inert gas dilutions, inert gas-water mist twin fluid medium dilutions, and end boundary conditions. Various characteristics and trends are identified, such as the effect of fuel concentration on overpressure rise and the inhibitory effects of inert gases and ultrafine water mist. Furthermore, differences between closed and end venting explosions are observed in terms of maximum overpressure and rates of overpressure rise, highlighting the varying dynamics of the two explosion scenarios.

Effects of N2 dilution on laminar burning velocity, combustion characteristics and NOx emissions of rich CH4-air premixed flames

Huaqiang Chu et al.

Summary: Experimental and numerical results showed that as the equivalence ratio increased, the laminar burning velocity, intermediate radicals, and NOx emissions exhibited a trend of increasing first and then decreasing. Under the same equivalence ratio, increasing the N-2 doping ratio resulted in a decrease in the mole fraction of intermediate radicals and NOx.

Experimental and numerical study of the effects of oxygen-enriched air on the laminar burning characteristics of biomass-derived syngas

Qiaosheng Zhang et al.

Summary: The study experimentally measured and numerically calculated the LBVs of seven different composition mixtures, showing a significant increase in LBVs with higher oxygen concentrations and higher sensitivity of CH4-rich mixtures to oxygen levels. Different reaction mechanisms exhibit variations in predicting LBVs under different conditions.

Effects of initial condition and fuel composition on laminar burning velocities of blast furnace gas with low heat value

Weilin Zheng et al.

Summary: The laminar burning velocities of blast furnace gas with low heat value are influenced by initial pressure, temperature, and fuel composition, and chemical kinetic effect plays a major part during flame propagation.

Numerical Simulations of the Influence of Inert Gases (N2/CO2) on Combustion Characteristics of Laminar-Premixed Biosyngas Flame

Huilai Sun et al.

Summary: Addition of inert gas to fuel mixtures with different equivalence ratios reduces laminar burning velocity and adiabatic temperature. CO2 inhibits the formation of NO but promotes NO2 formation. The molar fractions of H, O, and OH decrease significantly with an increase in inert gas concentration.

Effects of hydrogen and carbon dioxide on the laminar burning velocities of methane-air mixtures

Akihiro Ueda et al.

Summary: The effects of different mole fractions of hydrogen and carbon dioxide on the combustion characteristics of a premixed methane-air mixture were investigated experimentally and numerically. Increasing carbon dioxide mole fraction decreases the laminar burning velocity, while increasing hydrogen mole fraction increases the velocity. Addition of hydrogen leads to the production of active radicals and higher mole fractions of hydrogen and carbon dioxide result in decreased NO production.
