Hybrid Pore-Scale Adsorption Model for CO2 and CH4 Storage in Shale

Humera Ansari et al.

Summary: This study presents a hybrid pore-scale model for gas adsorption in shale, using surrogate surfaces to simulate the behavior. The reliability of the model is verified through comparisons with experimental data. The proposed model can reduce the experimental burden and has general applicability.

Physics-Based Neural Networks for Simulation and Synthesis ofCyclic Adsorption Processes

Sai Gokul Subraveti et al.

Summary: A computationally faster and reliable physics-based artificial neural network framework (PANACHE) has been developed for adsorption and chromatography emulation. This approach accurately simulates adsorption processes by learning the underlying governing partial differential equations through a physics-constrained loss function, without requiring system-specific inputs. The results show that PANACHE significantly reduces computational time while maintaining similar accuracy to the detailed model simulations.

Investigation of adsorption kinetics of CH4 and CO2 on shale exposure to supercritical CO2

Chao Qin et al.

Summary: This study investigates the adsorption kinetics behaviors of CH4 and CO2 on shale affected by exposure to supercritical CO2, finding a decrease in adsorption rates and different rates between the two gases. The study suggests three stages for the CS-ESGR project: Fracturing-Recovery, Replacement-Recovery-Sequestration, and Replacement-Sequestration-Recovery, providing valuable insights for future optimization design.

Measurement and interpretation of unary supercritical gas adsorption isotherms in micro-mesoporous solids

Ronny Pini et al.

Summary: Gas adsorption at high pressures in porous solids is often quantified by the excess amount adsorbed. This study compared supercritical CO2 adsorption isotherms on three adsorbents with different microporosity fractions and discussed the challenges in extracting quantitative information on the properties of the adsorbed phase. The data revealed pore-size dependent adsorption behavior and the potential to complement traditional textural analysis by physisorption.

Adsorption and diffusion characteristics of CH4, CO2, and N2 in micropores and mesopores of bituminous coal: Molecular dynamics

Hang Long et al.

Summary: The research found that with the increase of pore size, the gas loading amount in the pore model increased, but the tight adsorption amount and adsorption heat decreased. The order of CO2 > CH4 > N2 is the arrangement order of tight adsorption amount, loading amount and adsorption heat. The diffusion characteristics of the three gases in the pores are CH4 > N2 > CO2, and larger pores are more conducive to gas diffusion.

Artificial neural network modelling for solubility of carbon dioxide in various aqueous solutions from pure water to brine

Pil Rip Jeon et al.

Summary: The study predicted the solubility of CO2 in salt solutions using an artificial neural network model, showing higher accuracy and fewer input parameters compared to traditional thermodynamic models. The developed model demonstrated potential for predicting the solubility of non-polar gases in complex salt solutions, highlighting its application prospects.
