A multi-objective supplier selection framework based on user-preferences

Federico Toffano et al.

Summary: This paper introduces an interactive framework for guiding decision-makers in a multi-criteria supplier selection process. Through an active learning loop, the framework optimally solves combinatorial problems with different weights assigned to the objectives to elicit decision-maker preferences. Experimental results demonstrate the usability of the framework for real-world problems.

A multi-objective optimization model for strategic waste management master plans

Mohamed Abdallah et al.

Summary: The study proposed a systematic optimization framework to identify the best waste management strategies, including maximizing material and energy recovery in facilities such as MRFs and AD plants. The optimal strategy reduced the carbon footprint from landfilling by 97.6%, increased profitability by approximately 288%, and could cover around 4.2% of the UAE's total energy demand.

Integrating supplier selection with inventory management under supply disruptions

Thomy Eko Saputro et al.

Summary: In the current global market, managing supply chain operations is complex due to uncertainty and disruptions, and a holistic approach to supplier selection and inventory management is crucial. An integrated model and simulation-optimisation methodology can help address this challenge by considering stochastic demand, suppliers' imperfect quality, and supply disruptions. Effective disruption mitigation strategies depend on the characteristics of the disruptions, and criteria in supplier selection should be adjusted based on the characteristics of the items being supplied.
