Podoplanin is required for tumor cell invasion in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma

Melanie Schwab et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that loss of PDPN in murine cSCC cells leads to decreased migration and invasion in vitro, highlighting the crucial role of PDPN in cSCC progression. Experiments with Pdpn mutants further reveal the importance of both intra- and extracellular domains in cancer cell invasion. Orthotopic injection of labeled cells into nude mice confirms the impact of PDPN on tumor infiltration into the stroma.

Topical arginase inhibition decreases growth of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma

Amit Mittal et al.

Summary: This study investigates the therapeutic potential of transcutaneous arginase inhibition in cSCC, requiring a competent immune microenvironment for tumor growth inhibition using this method. The results support further examination of transcutaneous arginase inhibition as a therapeutic modality for cSCC, showing synergistic co-inhibition of tumor growth.
