Altered executive control network connectivity in anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis

Zhongqin Chen et al.

Summary: By examining static functional connectivity and temporal properties of dynamic FC states, we found cognitive impairments in patients with anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis, which were associated with altered static and dynamic ECN connectivity, particularly correlated with working memory, information processing speed, and executive function performance.

State-dependent signatures of anti-N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor encephalitis

Nina von Schwanenflug et al.

Summary: The study used a dynamic functional connectivity approach to investigate the spatiotemporal variability of brain network activity in patients with anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis. The results showed distinct alterations in functional connectivity, dwell time patterns, and state transitions in patients compared to controls. The predictive power of dynamic functional connectivity models outperformed static analyses.

Long-Term Cognitive Outcome in Anti-N-Methyl-D-Aspartate Receptor Encephalitis

Josephine Heine et al.

Summary: Cognitive dysfunction is a core symptom of anti-NMDAR encephalitis, with memory and executive function being the main deficits. Despite cognitive deficits persisting beyond functional neurological recovery, improvement in cognitive function is possible for several years after onset. Delayed treatment, higher disease severity, and longer duration of the acute phase are predictors for impaired cognitive outcome.

Attractor cortical neurodynamics, schizophrenia, and depression

Summary: Local recurrent collateral connections between cortical neurons form the basis for attractor neural networks in various aspects of human behavior, while changes in functional connectivity between brain regions may contribute to different symptoms in schizophrenia and depression.
