Metabolic syndrome severity score and the progression of CKD

Mingyang Wu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the continuous metabolic syndrome risk score (MetS score) is associated with a higher risk of progressive decline in renal function and chronic kidney disease (CKD). This suggests that the MetS score could be a useful clinical tool for assessing metabolic syndrome severity and detecting the risk of decreased renal function and CKD.

Association of Metabolic Syndrome and Chronic Kidney Disease in Moroccan Adult Population

Rachida Moustakim et al.

Summary: The study investigated the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and its components among Moroccan adults, finding a significant association between MetS and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Abdominal obesity emerged as the primary risk factor for MetS in the population, with comorbid factors increasing with age and BMI. The presence of MetS was significantly linked to decreased estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), indicating a higher prevalence of CKD in individuals with MetS.
