Ten years' experience with the sutureless aortic valve replacement: incidence and predictors for survival and valve durability at follow-up

Summary: Sutureless aortic valve replacement (Su-AVR) is a viable option for patients with severe aortic valve stenosis, and the long-term outcomes and durability of the prosthesis were evaluated in this study. Age, EuroSCORE II, baseline dialysis, and postoperative acute kidney injury were found to be significantly associated with worse survival. Structural valve deterioration occurred in 4.2% of patients, with 19 individuals undergoing reintervention.

The research found that less-invasive AVR is associated with operative mortality and postoperative stroke rates similar to that of conventional surgery. Less-invasive AVRs may serve as a benchmark for comparison between transcatheter aortic valve replacement and surgical AVR in low-risk patients.
