Plant low-K responses are partly due to Ca prevalence and the low-K biomarker putrescine does not protect from Ca side effects but acts as a metabolic regulator

Jing Cui et al.

Summary: Potassium (K) deficiency negatively affects biomass, photosynthesis, and N assimilation, but this impact can be partially alleviated by low calcium (Ca) conditions rather than just potassium fertilization. Putrescine addition can restore photosynthesis and N assimilation, but also exacerbates the effect of low potassium conditions on catabolism.
