The features and mechanisms of the North Shandong Coastal Current: a case study in 2014

Xiangyang Zheng et al.

Summary: The study investigated the North Shandong Coastal Current (NSCC) and confirmed its existence as a climatological current in winter. The NSCC's magnitude ranged from 0.07 to 0.12 m/s on a monthly scale, with a current direction parallel to the coastline. Strong winds play key roles in the formation of the eastward mean flow of the NSCC, with a barotropic pressure gradient identified as the dominant driving force of the residual current during and after strong wind events.

Risk Assessment of Coastal Flooding under Different Inundation Situations in Southwest of Taiwan (Tainan City)

Moslem Imani et al.

Summary: Pacific island countries are vulnerable to global warming, with seawater inundation posing significant risks. This study simulated static flooding in Taiwan's southwest coast using various data sources, showing inundation depths ranging from 0-8 meters around Tainan, mainly affecting agricultural land and leading to the disappearance of important wetlands under combined conditions.

Detecting changes in water level caused by climate, land cover and dam construction in interconnected river-lake systems

Jie Liang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the relative importance of climate change and anthropogenic impacts on hydrologic fluctuations in the river-lake system, using Dongting Lake as a case study. It found that water level fluctuations were influenced by climate, land cover, and dam construction factors. The water level showed a decreasing trend from 1990 to 2019, with significant fluctuations during the flood adjustment and impoundment periods under the influence of the key factor In-YR.
