Direct dye wastewater photocatalysis using immobilized titanium dioxide on fixed substrate

Woottikrai Chairungsri et al.

Summary: The research focused on immobilizing TiO2 onto glass and iron beads substrates by calcining the composite materials at different temperatures. SEM and EDS analyses showed that TiO2 particles were evenly distributed on the substrates at 700 degrees C, with mixed-phase anatase and rutile structures beneficial to photocatalysis. The composite materials achieved a direct dye photodegradation efficiency of 64.0% at 4 h, with high stability of the immobilized TiO2 on the fixed substrates even after reuse.

Continuous synthesis of TiO2-supported noble metal nanoparticles and their application in ammonia borane hydrolysis

Lamei Luo et al.

Summary: A stabilizer-free method based on segmented flow for continuous synthesis of TiO2 supported noble metal nanoparticles was proposed. The method can effectively control the particle size of noble metal nanoparticles by reducing the metal precursors with NaBH4 in the presence of TiO2 without using any stabilizer. The prepared nanoparticles showed smaller size and better dispersity compared to the batch method. Adjusting the oil-to-water phase ratio or increasing the total volume flow rate and synthetic temperature could further reduce the particle size with narrower distribution. The prepared nanoparticles exhibited higher catalytic activities in the hydrolysis of ammonia borane due to their smaller size and increased exposure of active sites.
