Preparation of effective green sorbents using O. Princeps alga biomass with different composition of amine groups: Comparison to adsorption performances for removal of a model acid dye

Gulay Bayramoglu et al.

Summary: In this study, various green biosorbents based on Oscillatoria princeps biomass were developed for dye removal from wastewaters. The modified algal biomasses showed enhanced biosorption capacities for Reactive Red 120 dye compared to the native algal biomass, and the biosorption process was governed by hydrogen bonding, ion exchange, electrostatic, and pi-pi interactions. The biosorbents also displayed good regeneration capabilities, making them promising for practical applications in wastewater treatment.

Magnetic bio-activated carbons production using different process parameters for phosphorus removal from artificially prepared phosphorus-rich and domestic wastewater

Yuming Wen et al.

Summary: A series of magnetic bio-activated carbon (MBAC) has been produced from lignin and ferrous salts through processes such as impregnation, carbonization, and steam activation. The MBAC produced via wet impregnation method with higher steam flow rate showed higher iron content and better dispersion of iron species. The MBAC with the highest maximum phosphorus adsorption capacity demonstrated good potential for domestic wastewater treatment by removing up to 96.97% of total phosphorus from treated domestic wastewater.
