Effect of HRT and BDPs types on nitrogen removal and microbial community of solid carbon source SND process treating low carbon/nitrogen domestic wastewater

Heng Wu et al.

Summary: The study found that nitrogen removal performance varies significantly under different types of biodegradable polymer carriers and hydraulic retention times. Short retention times can impact nitrogen removal efficiency and alter microbial community composition.

Application of basalt fibers in a biological contact oxidation reactor for the treatment of landfill leachate

Huicheng Ni et al.

Summary: The study used basalt fiber (BF) as a bio-carrier in the remediation of landfill leachate, showing that BF promotes microbial adhesion and proliferation, with abundant microbial genera involved in the nitrogen cycle. Under specific conditions, the highest nitrogen removal efficiency was achieved, and adsorption equilibrium of heavy metals was reached in a short time, confirming that BF application can effectively address complex wastewater treatment issues with low denitrification capabilities.

Performance of horizontal flow constructed wetland for secondary treatment of domestic wastewater in a remote tribal area of Central India

Reetika Shukla et al.

Summary: The study focused on purifying primary treated domestic sewage using a horizontal sub-surface flow constructed wetland, comparing the treatment performance of different setups. Results showed that the wetland planted with two species of macrophytes performed the best in removing pollutants from the sewage.

Investigation on the treatment effect of slope wetland on pollutants under different hydraulic retention times

Jia Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the feasibility of using the slope wetland system (SWs) to improve polluted river water. Results show that mixed fillers are more effective than gravel fillers in removing pollutants, with a 5% improvement in treatment indexes. Extended hydraulic retention time (HRT) is beneficial for pollutant removal in SWs. Analysis indicates that physical adsorption is the main form of pollution removal, and enrichment of microorganisms with dominant bacteria against polluted river water is observed in the device packing.
