NbOx-Based Catalysts for the Activation of C-O and C-C Bonds in the Valorization of Waste Carbon Resources

Yong Guo et al.

Summary: The escalating energy demand, depletion of fossil fuels, and abnormal climate change are considered important challenges in the 21st century. Using biomass and plastic as alternatives to fossil fuels is seen as a promising solution to create a carbon-neutral, waste-free society. Catalysis plays a crucial role in energy transformations, particularly in the cleavage of C-O and C-C bonds for producing chemicals and fuels. NbOx-based catalysts have shown exceptional ability in activating these bonds, making them important for biomass valorization and plastic upcycling. This work highlights the significance of understanding the activation of C-O and C-C bonds by NbOx-based catalysts and provides insights into future recommendations in this field.

Ultra-active Ru supported on CeO2 nanosheets for catalytic combustion of Propane: Experimental insights into interfacial active sites

Jinyan Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the catalytic oxidation of propane using Ru supported on porous and defect-rich CeO2 nanosheets catalysts. The results show that the Ru/CeO2 catalyst using chlorine-free Ru precursor exhibits ultra-high activity. The presence of chlorine species suppresses dispersion of RuOx species and formation of Ru-O-Ce interfaces, accelerating the sintering of CeO2 and Ru-O-Ce interfaces.

Regulating the Spatial Distribution of Ru Nanoparticles on CeO2 Support for Enhanced Propane Oxidation

Yaxi Sun et al.

Summary: The study focuses on developing a highly efficient Ru-CeO2 catalyst for propane oxidation by adjusting the Ru loading to achieve a better balance between RuOx species in the CeO2 bulk and on the surface. By improving the distribution of active sites and increasing oxygen vacancies, the Ru-CeO2 catalyst shows enhanced catalytic activity and durability, making it a promising candidate for industrial applications.

Total Oxidation of Light Alkane over Phosphate-Modified Pt/CeO2 Catalysts

Zhenpeng Huang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that phosphorus modification can enhance the catalytic performance of Pt/CeO2 catalyst in the total oxidation of light alkane by modulating its acidity and redox property. Phosphorus modification increases the acidity and the ability of the catalyst to activate C-H bond, while partially restoring its redox property.

Enormous enhancement of Pt/SnO2 sensors response and selectivity by their reduction, to CO in automotive exhaust gas pollutants including CO, NOx and C3H8

Hadis Mousavi et al.

Summary: In this study, cheap sensors were used to detect pollutants in automotive exhaust gases. It was found that the reduced Pt/SnO2 sample showed significantly enhanced stable responses to CO and greater selectivities to CO compared to C3H8 and NO. This was attributed to the formation of a SnO-SnO2 p-n junction.
