Scientist-stakeholder relationships drive carbon data product transfer effectiveness within NASA program

Molly E. Brown et al.

Summary: This study investigates the maturity of scientist-stakeholder engagement through a quantitative analysis of 908 survey responses from funded investigators. The findings provide evidence to support policy options for increasing stakeholder integration into research programs. Multiple funding rounds, long-standing relationships, and scientific productivity contribute to the transition of carbon products from research to operational use.

Enriching the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways to co-create consistent multi-sector scenarios for the UK

Simona Pedde et al.

Summary: As the pressure to address global warming intensifies, scenarios that incorporate various social, economic, and environmental factors are crucial to support climate change mitigation or adaptation actions by governments and stakeholders. While climate models have widely applied RCPs for producing climate scenarios, the scaling of SSPs for geographic and sectoral applications is still relatively new, with the UK lacking its own version of SSPs. Therefore, developing UK-specific SSPs has become a pressing need to balance consistency and legitimacy in addressing climate change impacts.

Modelling drivers of Brazilian agricultural change in a telecoupled world

James D. A. Millington et al.

Summary: The increasing global demand for agricultural commodities has driven local land use/cover change and agricultural production in Brazil during the 21st century. CRAFTY-Brazil is a LUCC model representing the production of multiple agricultural commodities, taking into account spatially explicit and temporally contingent processes in the nearly four million km2 Brazilian study area.

A new European land systems representation accounting for landscape characteristics

Yue Dou et al.

Summary: This study developed a comprehensive representation of European land systems integrating important land use and landscape characteristics, which demonstrated higher predictive ability for bird species distribution compared to traditional land cover maps. Mosaic landscapes cover 14.5% of European terrestrial surface, and the land system map consistently contributes more to the spatial distribution of tested species than land cover data.
