A review on hollow fiber membrane module towards high separation efficiency: Process modeling in fouling perspective

Xianhui Li et al.

Summary: This review provides a comprehensive overview of the development of hollow fiber MF/UF membrane filtration models, highlighting the lack of research on the interactions between membrane fouling and local filtration hydrodynamics. It suggests the need for simplified models to represent the actual filtration behavior of hollow fiber membranes, taking into account complex hydrodynamics and membrane properties for accurate prediction of membrane filtration performance.

Updated Reaction Pathway for Dichloramine Decomposition: Formation of Reactive Nitrogen Species and N-Nitrosodimethylamine

Huong T. Pham et al.

Summary: The formation pathway of N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) in chloraminated drinking water is mainly through the reactions of nitroxyl/nitroxyl anion (HNO/NO-) and peroxynitrous acid/peroxynitrite anion (ONOOH/ONOO-). Experimental results suggest that the simultaneous generation of reactive nitrogen species (RNS) and dissolved oxygen may be the central step for NDMA formation.

Formation of N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) from tetracycline antibiotics during the disinfection of ammonium-containing water: The role of antibiotics dissociation and active chlorine species

Chenglin Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the formation potential and mechanism of NDMA from tetracycline and oxytetracycline in ammonium-contaminated water. The results showed that both monochloramine and dichloramine played a vital role in NDMA formation, and unprotonated tetracycline tended to have a higher NDMA conversion ratio. The dissociation of hydroxyl on the meta-position of dimethylamine group was found to promote NDMA formation, and N-chloro unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine (UDMH-Cl) and chlorine substitution products were key intermediates in the formation pathway.

Electrochemical oxidation of 2-chloroaniline in single and divided electrochemical flow cells using boron doped diamond anodes

Nasr Bensalah et al.

Summary: The study utilized electrochemical oxidation with boron-doped diamond electrodes to treat 2-chloroaniline in water, achieving high mineralization efficiency. The divided electrochemical cell configuration reduced the generation of DBPs and enhanced treatment efficiency; however, higher concentrations of chlorine, nitrate, and other ions were produced in the anolyte.
