The study of human serum metabolome on the health effects of glyphosate and early warning of potential damage

QiuLan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the serum metabolic alterations in workers from chemical factories exposed to glyphosate, and assessed the potential health risks at the molecular level. The results showed that glyphosate exposure caused significant changes in metabolic pathways, indicating potential adverse health effects and the development of various diseases. Four potential biomarkers related to glyphosate exposure were identified. These findings provide new insights into the mechanisms and health risks associated with glyphosate exposure.

Glyphosate targets fish monoaminergic systems leading to oxidative stress and anxiety

Melissa Faria et al.

Summary: Glyphosate, the active ingredient in many herbicides, has been found to have neurotoxic effects, including increased anxiety and altered social behaviors in adult zebrafish exposed to environmentally relevant concentrations. Changes in neurotransmitter levels and antioxidant defense systems were observed in the brains of exposed fish, suggesting potential negative impacts on fish survival and human health from chronic low-dose exposures commonly found in aquatic ecosystems.

Lipid metabolism disorders associated with dioxin exposure in a cohort of Chinese male workers revealed by a comprehensive lipidomics study

Yanshan Liang et al.

Summary: The study found that exposure to dioxins caused significant changes in lipidomic characteristics, including accumulations and imbalances of lipids. This exposure is associated with adverse health risks such as inflammation, apoptosis, cardiovascular diseases, and liver diseases.

An ion chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (IC-MS/MS) method for glyphosate and amino methyl phosphoric acid in serum of occupational workers

Hao Zhang et al.

Summary: A non-suppressed ion chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method was established to measure glyphosate and AMPA in serum samples of occupational workers. The study found a significant association between the exposure probability and duration during the manufacture process of GLY and the concentration of these contaminants in serum samples.

The altered serum lipidome and its diagnostic potential for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver (NAFL)-associated hepatocellular carcinoma

Monika Lewinska et al.

Summary: The study revealed a complete rearrangement of the serum lipidome in NAFLD-HCC patients, allowing for efficient differentiation from healthy individuals and other HCC patients. A diagnostic model for NAFLD-HCC was developed with superior diagnostic potential compared to traditional AFP. These findings contribute to early detection of NAFLD-HCC.

Maternal urinary levels of glyphosate during pregnancy and anogenital distance in newborns in a US multicenter pregnancy cohort

Corina Lesseur et al.

Summary: High maternal urinary levels of Glyphosate were associated with longer anoclitoral distance (AGD-AC) in female infants, while increased levels of AMPA were associated with longer anofourchette distance (AGD-AF). No significant associations were found in male infants.
