Development of a predictive model for soil temperature and its application to species distribution modeling of ant species in South Korea

Jae-Min Jung et al.

Summary: A predictive model for soil temperature was developed to evaluate the potential distribution of several ant species in South Korea, showing that climate suitability predicted by soil temperature was significantly higher than that predicted by air temperature for the selected ant species, highlighting the importance of considering soil environment in species distribution modeling.

Evaluating the invasion risk of longhorn crazy ants (Paratrechina longicornis) in South Korea using spatial distribution model

Wang-Hee Lee et al.

Summary: This study utilized CLIMEX and Maxent models to predict the potential distribution of longhorn crazy ants in response to climate change, identifying temperature-related variables as the main factors influencing their habitat. High-risk areas were found to be mainly located along the coasts in South Korea, with expectations of expansion due to climate change.
