Xiao Liu et al.

Summary: Researchers solved the efficiency decrease issue of tin perovskite solar cells with increased cell area by using a rarely used two-step deposition method that increased steric hindrance to hydroxyl in solvent molecules for dense and homogeneous film formation. The films fabricated with the two-step method exhibited higher uniformity in both horizontal and longitudinal directions, resulting in achieving over 10% power conversion efficiency for TPSCs. The cells maintained over 92% of its initial efficiency after operation under 1 sun illumination for 1000 hours.

Electronic, structural, and optical properties of Cs2SnGeX6 (X = I, Br, Cl) and mixed halides for solar cell applications

D. Bharath Raja et al.

Summary: The Cs2SnGeX6 perovskite with mixed metal-halides exhibits tunable structural and electronic properties, with a broad range of bandgap by substituting various halides. It shows ambipolar transport behavior and has long charge carrier diffusion lengths. The predominant bonding nature is ionic between cesium and halogen atoms, while bonding between tin/germanium and halogen atoms is covalent. The materials have high mobility of charge carriers due to the presence of stereochemically-active lone-pair electrons in Sn and Ge. The major optical absorption is attributed to the transition between hybridized Sn/Ge(s)-X(p) and Sn/Ge(p) states. These properties make the materials suitable for solar cell applications.

Poly(N,N′-bis-4-butylphenyl-N,N′-bisphenyl)benzidine-Based Interfacial Passivation Strategy Promoting Efficiency and Operational Stability of Perovskite Solar Cells in Regular Architecture

Erdi Akman et al.

Summary: The study addresses the issue of degradation in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) over time, caused by environmental factors such as humidity, heat, and light. By treating the perovskite surfaces with polyTPD molecules, the research significantly suppresses defect-mediated non-radiative recombination in PSCs, resulting in improved efficiency and stability. The ultra-hydrophobic polyTPD passivant also helps to prevent moisture penetration, leading to a high retention of initial efficiencies after storage and operational conditions.
