Does energy productivity and public-private investment in energy achieve carbon neutrality target of China?

Gang Cheng et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of public-private partnership in energy and energy efficiency on CO2 emissions in China from 1991Q1 to 2017Q4, along with other determinants such as environmental innovation, renewable energy, energy productivity, and economic growth. The results indicate that income growth and public-private partnership contribute to higher carbon emissions, while improvements in energy productivity, renewable energy, and technological innovation have a negative impact on CO2 emissions. There is a need to enhance the efficiency of public-private partnership in energy projects to reduce carbon emissions, and policymakers should focus on transitioning towards renewable energy sources through innovation and improved efficiency in all energy sources.

Bioenergy consumption, carbon emissions, and agricultural bioeconomic growth: A systematic approach to carbon neutrality in China

Mansoor Ahmed Koondhar et al.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between bioenergy consumption and agricultural bioeconomic growth, highlighting the need for China to transition to renewable energy sources to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. The findings showed that an increase in bioenergy consumption led to growth in agricultural bioeconomic, while a reduction in fossil fuel consumption also had positive effects on agricultural growth. The study's dynamic simulation models further underscored the importance of reducing reliance on fossil fuels and increasing the use of bioenergy for sustainable economic development.

Investigating the EKC hypothesis with renewable energy consumption, human capital, globalization and trade openness for China: Evidence from augmented ARDL approach with a structural break

Ugur Korkut Pata et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of income, human capital, globalization, renewable energy consumption, and trade openness on environmental pollution and ecological footprint in China. The findings revealed a U-shaped quadratic relationship between environmental pollution and income level, with human capital playing a key role in reducing environmental degradation while renewable energy was insufficient to meet environmental requirements. The Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis did not hold for China in this study.
