Carbon emissions in China's urban residential building sector through 2060: A dynamic scenario simulation

Tengfei Huo et al.

Summary: This study establishes an integrated dynamic emission assessment model to explore the evolutionary trajectories of carbon emissions in China's urban residential building sector. The results show that under a carbon-neutral scenario, the peak of carbon emissions will occur in 2025 and decline thereafter. This study provides valuable insights for policy-making and evaluating emission paths in other countries and regions.

Spatial correlation network structure of China's building carbon emissions and its driving factors: A social network analysis method

Tengfei Huo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the spatial association network of building carbon emissions in China using social network analysis. The results show that building carbon emissions exhibit a network structure, with Shanghai, Jiangsu, Tianjin, Beijing, and Zhejiang playing important roles. The network can be classified into different plates, and factors such as geographical adjacency, economic development level, energy intensity, and industrial structure are significantly correlated with building carbon emissions. This study is important for formulating energy conservation policies and promoting transregional collaborative emissions reduction.

Will the urbanization process influence the peak of carbon emissions in the building sector? A dynamic scenario simulation

Tengfei Huo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of urbanization on China's carbon emissions from buildings through a comprehensive framework and dynamic simulation model. It predicts the peak emissions and trajectories of different building sectors, and finds that rural-urban migration plays a significant role in influencing the peaking time and emission peaks. This research provides valuable insights for the government in formulating effective strategies to achieve carbon peaking and neutrality goals.

Examining the Driving Factors of Urban Residential Carbon Intensity Using the LMDI Method: Evidence from China's County-Level Cities

Jincai Zhao et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the spatiotemporal variation of carbon intensity in 620 county-level cities in China from 2001 to 2015 using the logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI). It was found that high carbon intensity is mainly present in large cities, such as Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai. Energy consumption, urban sprawl, and land demand were identified as the three most influential factors in determining changes in carbon intensity.
