Thermal load prediction and operation optimization of office building with a zone-level artificial neural network and rule-based control

Jingfan Hu et al.

Summary: This study developed an artificial neural network model to predict the thermal load and energy consumption of an office building, and combined it with a rule-based control optimization model to optimize the operation of the HVAC system. The results showed that the ANN model has high precision, and the optimization could significantly reduce the operation cost.

Cooling system energy flexibility of a nearly zero-energy office building using building thermal mass: Potential evaluation and parametric analysis

Fei Lu et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the energy flexibility of cooling systems in nearly zero-energy office buildings using building thermal mass. A simulation-based methodology is proposed to evaluate energy flexibility, showing that thermal mass can significantly reduce peak power and energy, while external wall insulation level has little impact on energy flexibility.
