Preparation of porous silicate supported micro-nano zero-valent iron from copper slag and used as persulfate activator for removing organic contaminants

Caiqi Gao et al.

Summary: Porous silicate supported micro-nano zero-valent iron (PSi@ZVI) prepared from copper slag through carbothermal reduction technology was used as a persulfate activator for organic contaminant removal. The activator's properties were affected by preparation conditions, with increased dosages of PSi@ZVI or PS and higher reaction temperatures improving the removal rate of contaminants. PSi@ZVI demonstrated excellent activator ability in a wide pH range and good degradation capability for various dyes, with sulfate radical being the main active species in the system.

Study on Preparation of Oxygen Carrier Using Copper Slag as Precursor

Yan Feng et al.

Summary: This research proposes the use of granulated copper slag particles as precursor to produce oxygen carrier, enabling waste heat recovery and simplifying the pretreatment process. The reactivity of granulated copper slag was found to peak at 1,000 degrees C. Oxygen release and absorption performance of the oxygen carrier were also confirmed through testing.
