Toward battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell military vehicles for land, air, and sea

Scott M. Katalenich et al.

Summary: A long-term solution to climate and air pollution crises involves electrification of energy and obtaining clean electricity from renewable sources. However, there are currently no electric alternatives for long-distance, heavy passenger aircraft, freight locomotives, or ships. This study evaluates the feasibility of replacing these land, air, and sea vehicles with battery electric and/or hydrogen fuel cell equivalents while maintaining their characteristics. The research shows that armored tanks, freight trains, boats, helicopters, prop planes, and jumbo jets have potential for transition with identified technological advancements and solutions within literature.

Locating wind farm for power and hydrogen production based on Geographic information system and multi-criteria decision making method: An application

Seyyed Shahabaddin Hosseini Dehshiri et al.

Summary: Hydrogen generation from renewable energy resources is considered as a suitable solution to energy and greenhouse gas reduction issues. This study provides an integrated framework using GIS and MCDM to identify suitable areas for wind farms to produce hydrogen. Economic criteria were found to be the most important, with distance to urban areas being the most significant sub-criterion. The results showed that the southern and central sectors of Yazd province are the most suitable areas for hydrogen production. The feasibility analysis indicated that the province has the capacity to generate hydrogen at a significant rate annually.
