Boron Nitride-Based Release Agent Coating Stabilizes Li1.3Al0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3/Li Interface with Superior Lean-Lithium Electrochemical Performance and Thermal Stability

Lei Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, a simple and inexpensive spray-coating approach is proposed to protect LATP and improve its compatibility with lithium metal. The interface formation of Li-N in the BNRA layer enables low resistance at BNRA/Li interface and allows Li-ion migration through BN defects. The protection strategy significantly improves the performance and stability of LATP, and solid-state batteries assembled with BNRA-LATP demonstrate high specific capacity and minimal capacity decay.

Stabilizing the Li1.3Al0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3|Li Interface for High Efficiency and Long Lifespan Quasi-Solid-State Lithium Metal Batteries

Zhen Chen et al.

Summary: By utilizing a thin protective layer and an ionic liquid electrolyte, the interfacial stability and electrochemical performance of lithium-ion batteries can be improved. The addition of specific ionic liquid has been found to effectively promote the formation of a stable interface between lithium and hybrid electrolyte, thereby extending the lifespan of the batteries.

In situ Observation of Li Deposition-Induced Cracking in Garnet Solid Electrolytes

Jun Zhao et al.

Summary: The penetration of lithium into solid electrolytes causes short circuits in Li solid-state batteries, hindering the development of high energy density SSBs. Observations of Li deposition-induced cracking in SEs at nanometer resolution revealed that Li propagated mainly along transgranular cracks in a garnet Li6.4La3Zr1.4Ta0.6O12. The initiation and propagation of cracks appear to be driven by the pressure generated by Li deposition.

Thermal, structural and electrical properties of fluorine-doped Li3.6Al0.8Ti4.0P7.6O30-x/2Fx (x=0, 0.5, 1, 2) glass-ceramic electrolytes

Wenjing Xu et al.

Summary: Fluorine-doped Li3.6Al0.8Ti4.0P7.6O30-x/2Fx glasses prepared by the meltquenching method show that an increase in fluorine content leads to a decrease in Delta T (Tc-Tg). XRD analysis confirms the amorphous nature of the glasses, with diffraction characteristic peaks matching the LiTi2(PO4)3 crystalline phase. The glass-ceramics with 0.5 fluorine content exhibit the optimal conductivity at room temperature, reaching a maximum of 3.85 x 10(-5) S cm(-1).

Quantification of the Li-ion diffusion over an interface coating in all-solid-state batteries via NMR measurements

Ming Liu et al.

Summary: The key challenge in the development of solid-state batteries is designing electrode-electrolyte interfaces that combine (electro)chemical and mechanical stability with easy Li-ion transport. This study demonstrates the beneficial effect of an inorganic coating on the overall cell stability and performance, as well as the impact on local Li-ion transport over grain boundaries. Through exchange-NMR measurements, the equilibrium between various phases at the interface and the positive electrode-solid electrolyte interface is quantified.

Universal lithiophilic interfacial layers towards dendrite-free lithium anodes for solid-state lithium-metal batteries

Guanjie Lu et al.

Summary: This study proposes an effective method to improve the wettability of LLZTO towards lithium and reduce the interfacial resistance by engineering lithiophilic interfacial layers, thereby enhancing the performance of solid-state lithium-metal batteries. Experimental results demonstrate that the performance of symmetric Li/CoO-LLZTO/Li batteries can be improved by the unique layers formed between LLZTO and lithium, showing smaller overpotential and higher cycling performance.
