High mass loading MnO2/graphite felt electrode with marked stability over a wide potential window of 1.9 V for supercapacitor application

Ahmed M. Abdelrahim et al.

Summary: A facile method is used to prepare a high mass loading MnO2/graphite felt (GF) electrode with an extended potential window of 1.9 V. The MnO2 is electrochemically deposited on a 3-D porous GF substrate, with GF being modified concurrently. The in-situ modification of GF enhances its hydrophilicity, electronic conductivity, and adhesion of MnO2, leading to the excellent capacitive performance of MnO2/GF. The MnO2/GF electrode exhibits a high specific capacitance of 832 mF cm-2 (226 F g-1) and retains 118% of its specific capacitance after cycling for 9000 cycles at a current density of 14 mA cm-2.
