Ce-modified SrFeO3-δ for ethane oxidative dehydrogenation coupled with CO2 splitting via a chemical looping scheme

Xin Tian et al.

Summary: Ce-modified SrFeO3 oxygen carriers exhibit high activity and selectivity in oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane, attributed to the decreased Fe2+/(Fe3++Fe4+) ratio and increased active oxygen species on the near-surface. DFT calculations demonstrate that Ce promotion leads to a lower energy barrier for surface oxygen vacancy formation in 0.2Ce/SrFeO3. The superior ethylene selectivity achieved by CO2-regenerated samples is mainly due to the higher resistance of lattice oxygen diffusion from bulk to surface.

Coaxial cable-like dual conductive channel strategy in polypyrrole coated perovskite lanthanum manganite for high-performance asymmetric supercapacitors

Xucong Sun et al.

Summary: In this study, LaMnO3@CC-PPy materials were prepared by two-step electrodeposition, and NiCo2O4@CC cathodes were prepared for the assembly of asymmetric supercapacitor devices. The obtained materials showed excellent performance in specific capacitance, rate performance, and cycle stability, which can be attributed to the existence of internal and external double electric channels and abundant internal space.

Sr- and Fe-substituted LaMnO3 Perovskite: Fundamental insight and possible use in asymmetric hybrid supercapacitor

P. Muhammed Shafi et al.

Summary: The symmetry and conductivity of perovskite oxides are greatly influenced by the size and valence states of cations. By substituting La3+ with Sr2+ and Mn3+ with Fe3+, the crystal symmetry and ionic-electronic conductivity of the perovskite can be improved. The use of carbon nano-onions as a negative electrode in an asymmetric hybrid supercapacitor greatly enhances its rate capability. Tuning the conductivities and using appropriate carbon-derived negative electrodes can pave the way for high-rate hybrid devices using different perovskites.

Probing Zr Substituting Effects on the Oxygen Reduction Reaction of Fe-Based Double Perovskite Cathodes for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

Chengzhi Sun et al.

Summary: As a classical family of high-performance cathode materials, mixed ionic and electronic conductor (MIEC) is crucial for the low-temperature operation and high efficiency of solid oxide fuel cells. While Fe-based double perovskites have advantages of low cost, good thermal compatibility with the electrolyte, and high-temperature stability, their electrochemical properties for oxygen reduction reaction are unsatisfactory. This study demonstrates that substituting Zr for Fe in NdBaFe2O6??Δ (NBF) lattice can enhance oxygen vacancy concentration and the position of O p-band center, leading to improved oxygen reduction performance for the Zr-doped NBF cathode.

Fabrication of novel perovskite oxideBaxMn1-xO3electrode for supercapacitors

Muhammad Rafique et al.

Summary: BaxMn1-xO3 is a suitable material for electrochemical devices, with Ba-doped MnO3 being synthesized through different Ba concentrations. The nanorod-like synthesized material exhibited higher surface area with increased dopant concentration, enhancing the electrochemical properties. Analysis of structural properties revealed that crystallite size decreased with increasing dopant concentration, while oxygen vacancies increased, improving the electrochemical properties.

La1-xKxFeO3-δ: An Anion Intercalative Pseudocapacitive Electrode for Supercapacitor Application

Rakesh Mondal et al.

Summary: Research indicates that K-doped LaFeO3 has high pseudocapacitance storage, superior energy storage capabilities, and high energy output, by introducing high redox state energies over the Fe ion octahedral, and enabling redox reactions between Fe4+ and Fe2+. By doping K+ ions at the A-site of the perovskite LaFeO3, access to the Fe4+ oxidation state is achieved, along with anionic intercalation of H2O/OH- in the primary perovskite structure.
