Hypoxic pancreatic cancer derived exosomal miR-30b-5p promotes tumor angiogenesis by inhibiting GJA1 expression

Kai Chen et al.

Summary: Most PDAC patients have poor prognosis due to vascular invasion and metastasis. This study identified distinct gene expression profiles of endothelial cells in PDAC and found that hypoxic PDAC cells derived exosomal miR-30b-5p promoted angiogenesis by inhibiting GJA1. Furthermore, miR-30b-5p could be a potential diagnostic marker for PDAC.

Coal dust exposure triggers heterogeneity of transcriptional profiles in mouse pneumoconiosis and Vitamin D remedies

Min Mu et al.

Summary: This study reveals the toxic effects of respirable coal dust on lung epithelial cells and macrophages, leading to pulmonary fibrosis. Using unbiased single-cell RNA sequencing, the study also provides insights into the pathologic progression and transcriptome pattern of coal pneumoconiosis. These findings have implications for the prevention and treatment of coal dust-related lung diseases.

miR-138 inhibits epithelial-mesenchymal transition in silica-induced pulmonary fibrosis by regulating ZEB2

Qiuyun Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, a mouse model of pulmonary fibrosis was established by intratracheal instillation of silica particles, and it was found that miR-138 targets ZEB2 to inhibit the process of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and alleviate the development of pulmonary fibrosis. The overexpression of miR-138 significantly reduced the expression of ZEB2 and reversed the effects of miR-138 inhibitor on the migration ability of epithelial cells. MiR-138 may serve as a potential target for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis.

Summary: This study used bioinformatic methods to analyze DEGs in human IPF, revealing potential biomarkers and targets such as MPP1. The MAPK signaling pathway was found to be related to the occurrence and development of IPF. Additionally, the development of IPF lung cancer complications may be associated with the activation of genes enriched in PD-L1 expression and PD-1 checkpoint pathway, providing insights into the pathogenesis of IPF combined with lung cancer.

Association between duration of coal dust exposure and respiratory impairment in coal miners of West Bengal, India

Shilpi K. Prasad et al.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the prevalence of lung function impairment among coal miners, and found a significant correlation between dust exposure duration and deteriorating lung function indices. The results showed that exposed workers had significantly impaired lung function compared to non-exposed workers, with a high negative correlation between spirometric results and exposure time in the exposed group. The study suggested a positive relationship between exposure time and lung function deterioration.
