A 1,8-naphthalimide based fluorescent probe for sensing tyrosinase in zebrafish

Jing Cao et al.

Summary: The tyrosinase specific sensing probe NITYO was designed with recognition unit 3-hydroxy benzyloxy, which quenches the naphthalimide core via PET effect. The detection method achieved highly sensitivity and selectivity through comprehensive analysis such as molecular orbital analysis, molecular docking and HRMS. The probe also exhibited superb linear fitting and lower detection limit within the range of 10-400 U/mL.

A near-infrared naphthalimide fluorescent probe for targeting the lysosomes of liver cancer cells and specifically selecting HSA

Yue Ke et al.

Summary: A novel near-infrared naphthalimide probe NI-1 was reported to specifically detect HSA in intracellular lysosomes with turn-on fluorescent sensing modes, showing high selectivity for HSA over BSA. NI-1 can enter the specific site II hydrophobic cavity of HSA in lysosomes, emitting strong red fluorescence due to the binding force between NI-1 and HSA.

A dual-targeted organelles SO2 specific probe for bioimaging in related diseases and food analysis

Yongfei Huang et al.

Summary: Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is a reactive sulfur species mainly produced in mitochondria, and excessive inhalation can cause harm to the respiratory tract, cardiovascular system, and even lead to cancer. The interaction between mitochondria and lysosomes is crucial for maintaining cellular homeostasis, and SO2 has been found to play an active role in this process. By constructing fluorescent probes, researchers were able to target mitochondria and lysosomes accurately and detect the concentration of SO2 as well as sulfite levels.

Targeted Solvatochromic Fluorescent Probes for Imaging Lipid Order in Organelles under Oxidative and Mechanical Stress

Dmytro Danylchuk et al.

Summary: A series of solvatochromic probes have been designed for specific targeting of different organelles in live cells, allowing the detection of variations in lipid order and quantitative description of lipid order in each organelle. These probes revealed the characteristics of organelles under stress conditions, with mitochondria and lysosomes particularly sensitive to stress. The new probes provide a powerful toolbox for monitoring cellular response to physical and chemical stimuli at the level of individual organelle membranes.
