Surface ionization-induced tunable dynamic phosphorescence colors from carbon dots on paper for dynamic multimode encryption

Qijun Li et al.

Summary: We demonstrate a novel strategy to induce tunable dynamic phosphorescence color from carbon dots (CDs) on papers via surface ionization engineering for advanced information security. By alkali or thermal treatment, the CDs on paper can exhibit a color-changing phosphorescence emission, enabling multi-stimuli (alkali or thermal) and multi-modal dynamic phosphorescent colors from a single CDs system. These capabilities open up possibilities for multimode encryption and smart 3D codes with anti-counterfeiting and monitoring functions.

Carmine allergy in urticaria patients

Beata Sadowska et al.

Summary: This study aims to assess the incidence and clinical significance of carmine allergy in patients with urticaria and suspected hypersensitivity to food additives. The results showed that carmine allergy is more common in patients with chronic inducible urticaria. Skin tests and measurement of specific IgE levels are helpful tools for diagnosing E120 hypersensitivity.

Toxicity assessment of carmine and its interaction with calf thymus DNA

Amin Arif et al.

Summary: Carmine (CRM) is widely used as a coloring agent in various products and has been found to have cytotoxic and genotoxic effects on human and plant systems. CRM interacts with DNA as a partial intercalator, leading to disruption of the DNA backbone. Studies have shown that CRM binds to DNA in both intercalatory and groove binding modes, supported by molecular docking and binding energies determined from isothermal titration calorimetry.

Adsorptive Removal of Anionic Azo Dye New Coccine Using Silica and Silica-gel with Surface Modification by Polycation

Tien Duc Pham et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the effective adsorption of anionic azo dye NCC on PDADMAC modified silica and silica-gel in an aquatic environment. The removal efficiencies of NCC using PMS and PMSG were higher than 87%, indicating their potential as novel and reusable adsorbents for anionic dye removal. The electrostatic interaction between positively charged adsorbents' surfaces and negative sulfonic groups of NCC was identified as the main driving force for anionic azo dye adsorption onto PMS and PMGS adsorbents through analysis of adsorption isotherms and surface group changes.
