Cancer multidrug-resistance reversal by ABCB1 inhibition: A recent update

Kritika Engle et al.

Summary: Chemotherapy is a common treatment for cancer, but its drawbacks include lack of selectivity and development of drug resistance. Multidrug resistance refers to low sensitivity of specific cells to anticancer drugs, which is mainly caused by overexpression of multidrug efflux systems.

The prevalence of small-bowel polyps on video capsule endoscopy in patients with sporadic duodenal or ampullary adenomas

Halim Awadie et al.

Summary: The study aimed to determine the prevalence of small-bowel polyps in patients with duodenal and/or ampullary adenomas (DAs) using video capsule endoscopy (VCE). Results showed no small-bowel polyps in either the DA group or the control group, but a significantly higher rate of colonic polyps in the DA group. Therefore, screening with VCE for additional small-bowel polyps in patients with DA is not supported, but colonoscopy is necessary due to the increased risk of colonic polyps.

Does Side Really Matter? Survival Analysis among Patients with Right- Versus Left-Sided Colon Cancer: A Propensity Score-Adjusted Analysis

Johannes Klose et al.

Summary: The study found that there was no significant difference in prognosis and survival between patients with right-sided and left-sided colon cancer. Patients with right-sided stage II colon cancer had a statistically significant superior relative survival compared with patients with left-sided colon cancer.

Endoscopic diagnosis for colorectal sessile serrated lesions

Toshihiro Nishizawa et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a diagnostic score system for sessile serrated lesions (SSLs). The research found that tumor size, mucus cap, and indistinct borders were significant endoscopic features for the diagnosis of SSLs, and serrated polyps with these features should be removed during colonoscopy.

Analysis of multi-omics differences in left-side and right-side colon cancer

Yanyi Huang et al.

Summary: Colon cancer subtypes on the left and right sides, LCC and RCC, exhibit significant differences in clinical outcomes, immune infiltration, gene expression, and mutation frequency. RCC has a worse prognosis, higher immune infiltration, and different molecular mechanisms compared to LCC. Prognostic signatures based on mRNA expression levels show promise in predicting outcomes for both subtypes independently.
