Transient structural MRI patterns correlate with the motor functions in preterm infants

Ana Katusic et al.

Summary: This study explores the relationship between transient brain structural patterns on MRI in preterm infants and their general movements and motor development at 1-year corrected age. The visibility of sagittal strata on MRI was found to be associated with abnormal GMs and lower motor performance at 1-year corrected age. These findings suggest that transient structural brain patterns at preterm age may play a role in early neuromotor behavior in preterm infants.
