Synthesis, Crystal Structures, H2S, and Iodine Uptake Properties of Four New Coordination Polymers Constructed from Group 12 Transition Metal Ions and a Bidentate Sulfur Donor Ligand

Azizolla Beheshti et al.

Summary: In this study, four new sulfur coordination polymers were designed and synthesized, and fully characterized using various techniques. The synthesis methods of polymers 1 and 2 were different, while polymer 3 exhibited a different topology due to the use of a different ligand. The presence of halogen and ClO4- ions in polymer 4 was found to be the key factor for its high removal efficiency of I-2.

Silver-functionalized silica aerogel for iodine capture: Adsorbent aging by NO2 in spent nuclear fuel reprocessing off-gas

Ziheng Shen et al.

Summary: Silver-functionalized silica aerogel is a promising adsorbent for iodine capture, but it suffers from aging when exposed to NO2. Through characterization techniques, this study identifies the precise silver species involved in iodine adsorption and unravels the underlying aging processes in the presence of NO2. The findings have implications for the development of advanced materials and predictive models.

Thiophene-based MOFs for iodine capture: Effect of pore structures and interaction mechanism

Lingyu Wang et al.

Summary: The study explores the iodine adsorption properties of five thiophene-based metal-organic frameworks, revealing that DUT-68 has the highest iodine adsorption capacity due to its large cage structure, while MIL53-TDC(In) has a lower capacity because of its small pore volume and confinement effect. In-DTC and Ho-DTC show almost no iodine adsorption properties due to their smaller pore sizes than the kinetic diameter of iodine molecules.
