The complete sequence of a human genome

Sergey Nurk et al.

Summary: The Telomere-to-Telomere (T2T) Consortium has presented a complete sequence of a human genome, T2T-CHM13, which covers the whole genome except for the Y chromosome. This new sequence includes gapless assemblies, error corrections in previous references, and nearly 200 million base pairs of additional sequence with gene predictions, including protein coding genes. The completion of important regions allows for further studies on genetic variations and functions.

SGII: Systematic Identification of Essential lncRNAs in Mouse and Human Genome With lncRNA-Protein-Protein Heterogeneous Interaction Network

Xiao-Hong Xin et al.

Summary: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in biological processes and identifying essential lncRNAs is crucial for disease diagnosis and treatment. Experimental methods for identification are costly and time consuming, thus computational methods can be an alternative approach. This study proposes a method that combines network centrality measures and lncRNA sequence information to identify essential lncRNAs and finds that network information significantly improves the predictive performance of sequence-based methods.

dbEssLnc: A manually curated database of human and mouse essential lncRNA genes

Ying-Ying Zhang et al.

Summary: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have important roles in biological processes, with some being essential for cell survival or reproduction. Existing databases lack comprehensive records of essential non-coding genes, particularly essential lncRNAs. The creation of the dbEssLnc database fills this gap by providing a user-friendly platform for browsing, searching, visualizing, and blast searching essential lncRNA records.

Method for Identifying Essential Proteins by Key Features of Proteins in a Novel Protein-Domain Network

Xin He et al.

Summary: A novel prediction method called KFPM is proposed in this paper, which effectively integrates multiple biological features to infer potential essential proteins based on an improved PageRank algorithm. Experimental results show that KFPM significantly outperforms 13 state-of-the-art prediction methods in predicting candidate proteins, indicating its potential as a meaningful tool for future prediction of potential essential proteins.
