Biomarker dynamics and prognosis in breast cancer after neoadjuvant chemotherapy

Cristina Zarotti et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the changes in biomarker profiles and treatment modalities in neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer over the past 15 years and the prognostic impact of these changes. The study found that clinical-pathological factors and distinct therapy regimens, especially in triple negative and HER2+ subtypes, have a significant impact on pathological complete response, overall survival, and disease-free survival after neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Identification and validation of plasma biomarkers for diagnosis of breast cancer in South Asian women

Thangarajan Rajkumar et al.

Summary: Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women globally. The development of a reliable plasma biomarker panel could provide a non-invasive and cost-effective method for population-based screening of the disease. This study identified several candidate protein markers and epigenetic markers for breast cancer diagnosis and validated their effectiveness in differentiating breast cancer from benign diseases and healthy individuals. A combination of protein markers demonstrated moderate sensitivity and specificity, while the methylation status of SOSTDC1, DACT2, and WIF1 showed high sensitivity and specificity in distinguishing breast cancer.

A novel cause analysis approach of grey reasoning Petri net based on matrix operations

Li Li et al.

Summary: Cause analysis is crucial in fault diagnosis system, and a fuzzy Petri net is a commonly used model for knowledge representation. However, existing FPNs have limitations in cause analysis, which inspired the development of an enhanced grey reasoning Petri net (EGRPN) to address these issues. The EGRPN model utilizes grey numbers to tackle uncertain knowledge, enhancing the reliability of knowledge reasoning processes.

The Crosstalk between GPR81/IGFBP6 Promotes Breast Cancer Progression by Modulating Lactate Metabolism and Oxidative Stress

Lucia Longhitano et al.

Summary: The study reveals a novel axis between GPR81 and IGFBP6 in breast cancer cells, which modulates lactate metabolism and oxidative stress. The overexpression of GPR81 and IGFBP6 promotes cell proliferation and wound healing. This complex signaling pathway may serve as a potential therapeutic target for breast cancer treatment.

Robust biomarker screening from gene expression data by stable machine learning-recursive feature elimination methods

Lingyu Li et al.

Summary: In this paper, a stable machine learning-recursive feature elimination (StabML-RFE) strategy is proposed to screen robust biomarkers from high-throughput gene expression data. Eight machine learning methods are employed to train on all feature genes and recursive feature elimination is applied to obtain the most important features. The proposed method is validated on two real-world datasets and achieves promising results.

CXCL2 combined with HVJ-E suppresses tumor growth and lung metastasis in breast cancer and enhances anti-PD-1 antibody therapy

Yi Chun Pan et al.

Summary: A newly developed immunotherapy for breast cancer utilizing N1-type neutrophils to enhance cytotoxic T lymphocytes has shown promising results in inhibiting tumor growth and metastasis. The combination of CXCL2 DNA and HVJ-E suppressed murine breast cancers and increased the population of N1-type neutrophils in the tumor microenvironment, which played a crucial role in cancer immunotherapy. Moreover, the anti-tumor activities of the treatment were further enhanced by the administration of anti-PD-1 antibodies.
