Stress-induced Solid-Solid Crystal Transition in Trans-1,4-polyisoprene

Chun-Bo Zhang et al.

Summary: The polymorphic transition of trans-1,4-polyisoprene (TPI) during stretching was investigated. The study found that an alpha-beta transition occurs during the stretching of TPI, which is irreversible. Stretching of TPI with only beta crystal did not result in a beta-alpha transition. The transition is significantly influenced by temperature and strain rate, suggesting the involvement of both thermodynamics and kinetics.

Crosslinking of Trans-1,4-polyisoprene by γ-ray radiation

Hui Zhao et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effects of gamma-ray radiation on the chemical, thermal, and mechanical properties of trans-1,4-polyisoprene (TPI). The results show that TPI can be effectively crosslinked by gamma-ray radiation, leading to changes in the gel content and crosslinking degree. Differences in chemical structure and mechanical properties of TPI irradiated in different atmospheres were observed.

Verification of thermodynamic theories of strain-induced polymer crystallization

Chunbo Zhang et al.

Summary: The study on the crystallization of nearly homogeneous polyethylene glycol networks prepared by end-crosslinking of tetra-armed PEG found that stretching ratio and strand length have influence on melting and crystallization temperature. The relation between melting temperature and elongation ratio confirms the thermodynamic theories of strain-induced polymer crystallization.
