Intermetallic disordered magnet Gd2Pt1.1Ge2.9 and its relation to other AlB2-type compounds

L. S. Litzbarski et al.

Summary: The intermetallic compound Gd2Pt1.1Ge2.9 has been synthesized and characterized. The crystal structure analysis revealed a disordered AlB2-type structure, and magnetic susceptibility and heat capacity measurements indicated the presence of antiferromagnetic order. The magnetic ordering in these compounds was discussed in relation to their crystal structure and the influence of Gd ions.

Synthesis and study of the chiral magnetic system EuIr2P2

D. G. Franco et al.

Summary: The study reveals a new candidate for antiferromagnetic skyrmions in EuIr2P2, a chiral material with a unique magnetic structure. This material undergoes two magnetic transitions at low temperatures, displaying significant frustration due to competing ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions. The presence of chiral and frustration effects in EuIr2P2 may lead to unconventional magnetic textures.
